New Parent Notification Process for Student Absences

Lake Oswego Junior High will be transitioning to a new automated process for informing parents of unreported or unexcused student absences. If your student is absent and we have not received notification from a parent or guardian excusing that absence, all of the student’s parents and guardians will receive auto-generated phone calls and email messages at approximately 10:15 a.m. (and 3:00 p.m. for high schools) notifying you of your child’s absence from school.

We are making this change for the following reasons:

  • So that notifications can be made more quickly;
  • To ensure that all parents are notified in the unlikely event that a student is missing;
  • To ensure that we have complete records of all notifications made;
  • To have a consistent practice across all schools.

We hope to initiate this automated process on Monday, October 3.

In order to avoid unnecessary notifications, please remember to inform us of all student absences before 7:30 AM by calling the student attendance line at 503.534.2453.
