Release of Students to Adults Other than Parents/Guardians

safety-first-16e92c

We have had several well meaning and kind adults come into our office to pick up students for appointments or events who are not listed on the student’s emergency contacts list in our system.  Our policy is to not release students to adults other than their parents unless:

a) they are on the emergency contacts list in our system, or

b) you have sent a note in advance naming the adult that will be picking your child up (by their full name).  Please advise the adult to have identification available.

While we have no intention of inconveniencing anyone, it is a safety issue.  We cannot release students to people other than custodial parents and guardians without some kind of notification and permission.  Thank you so much for your help with this matter.

LOJ Architecture Team Wins in Philadelphia!

We are pleased to announce that the Lake Oswego Junior High Architecture Team captured the big prize in Philadelphia yesterday at the SchoolsNEXT international competition. Over 3,000 students representing nearly 100 school districts from schools around the globe participated in the 2016 program. The competition challenges students from across the globe to think creatively as they plan and design tomorrow’s 21st century learning environments to enhance innovative ways of teaching and learning, be healthy, conserve resources, be environmentally responsive and engage the surrounding community. SchoolsNEXT embraces a 21st Century learning approach where students are enabled, engaged and empowered through a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) curriculum, including leadership and teamwork proficiencies, to master the skills they need to succeed in today’s global economy.

The team is coached by LOJ Teacher, Wendy Hinderhofer.  We are so proud of all of you!
