LOJ 6th Graders Take Top Honors!

Four LOJ 6th grade students, Aaron Tsai, Sophia Kamsha, Gregory Park, and Nick Vilarino, have just won both the Champion’s Award and Robot Performance Award (highest robot game score) at the First Lego League (FLL) Qualifying Tournament at Mentor Graphics on Sunday, December 10th. The team was also awarded the ACE invitation to compete at Oregon First Lego League State Championship Tournament on January 13-14, 2018 at Liberty High School. I’m so proud of these students’ outstanding achievements and I’m happy to share this great news with school community.

Clothing Drive at LOJ!

For the next two weeks until winter break, we will be holding a drive for Northwest Children’s Outreach. We are conducting this as part of our DECA project (a business/community service project). This is an organization dedicated to providing clothes, books, toys, and hygienic supplies to kids in need across then Northwest all year long. But during these cold, winter months approaching us, they have an increased need especially for warm clothes, blankets, winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. They supply to kids all the way from newborns to 18 and are in dire need of larger clothes for high school aged kids especially. If you, or someone you know has anything to donate, we would appreciate it so much and so will the kids you will benefit. Tell your neighbors and your community so that we can make a large impact! The holiday season is a great time to go through closets and drawers to weed out clothes you no longer wear or that no longer fit. There will be a bin in the front of the school for donations.

Also, if anyone would like to volunteer at NCO (in Tualatin) after the holiday break to help sort these donations and pack them up for delivery) please contact us at

daniellenw03@gmail.com.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and we hope you take some time to help kids needing warmth this winter!

Sincerely,

Danielle Nead-Work

Immunization Information

Immunizations! Is your child up to date for the 2017-2018 school year?

Exclusion day is February 21, 2018. State law prohibits students from attending school after this date if immunizations are not current. Winter break is a great time to take care of this.
Notices will be mailed home next week ONLY to those students who need immunization updates. NOT EVERYONE will receive a notice. If you are wondering if your student is current, contact your student’s health care provider. If you receive a notification to update immunizations and you have questions, please contact Marie Shakerin,shakerim@loswego.k12.or.us.
