COBO Bottle Fundraiser at LOJ

Hello LOJ Families,

We have an awesome school fundraiser coming up over the next 2 weeks and I wanted to let you know the details. I think it will be something you would like to participate in.
This 2017/18 main fundraiser will be raising money for LOJ and for Ryan Banks Academy while educating our students on the effect single-use plastics has on our world and selling a product which is designed to be a solution.
The money raised for LOJ funds supplies & equipment which directly impacts our students. ASB students vote on what they would like the money to go towards and can fund learning experiences such as a Salsa dancer in Spanish 2 classes.
Ryan Banks Academy (RBA) is a non profit dedicated to building Chicago’s first boarding school for inner city youth. RBA opens in September 2018 and will prepare motivated students from Chicago neighborhoods to graduate from college, enter into meaningful careers, and be the catalyst to bring change into their communities. The school is named after a 7th grade boy who died during a shooting in his neighborhood. His 7th grade teacher is the founder of RBA.
This coming Monday 16th I will present the fundraiser to 7th and 8th graders during their science class. We will watch the 3 minute plastic pollution awareness video http://www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org/ and hand out the fundraising packets. I have already presented the fundraiser to the 6th grade PE students and will talk to the remaining 6th graders during lunch.
The product we are selling is https://www.cobobottle.org/ This is a company which I am a co-founder. Everyone on our team is a volunteer and every penny of profit goes to LOJ and RBA.
COBO is a reusable bottle and yet so much more; it’s a tool to help protect our Earth from pollution, it’s a reminder (thumbprint design) that our choices impact lives around us, and it’s an investment in a better future for those in need. You can have your name custom engraved on your bottle.

Dates to know:
  • Monday 16th  – Packets go home with 7th and 8th graders
  • Tuesday 17th – Packets go home with 6th graders
  • Thursday 19th & 26th – video reminder during announcements
  • Friday May 4th – Deadline for packets to be handed in at the start of first period.
  • Approx 2 weeks later 1st delivery of non-customized engraved bottles
  • Approx 1 week after that, delivery of customized engraved bottles
I will keep you updated as we move through the fundraiser.  Thank you!
