LOJ Architecture Club to Go to National Competition!

Architecture Club

We are a group of nine LOJ students who have been working hard with our wonderful advisor (Mrs. HInderhofer) after school and on weekends to design a school of the future. We call our school “BoB”, which stands for “Best of the Best”!
After many months of hard work, we were lucky enough to participate in local and regional competitions with other junior high and middle school architecture teams. Our hard work paid off and our design was selected to be presented at a national conference in Philadelphia in September 2016!
We have been invited to attend the A4LE conference to display and present our design to actual architects, engineers and other professionals who design schools for a living. We hope that our amazing design will impress them and that we can gather some great new ideas for our next project!
It means a lot to all of us to receive this honor. We really want to travel to Philly as a team, but we need to raise enough money to bring all nine of us plus our chaperones. Right now we have enough funding for about half of the team to go. We still need to pay for airfare, lodging and conference attendance for five team members and at least two more chaperones.
If you would like to help us go as an entire team, you can visit our “Go Fund Me” page at:  https://www.gofundme.com/LOJTeamBoB  to donate today!  Thank you!

Happy August From LOJ!

Hello, LOJ Families!

I wanted to introduce you to this blog as my main means of communication with LOJ families.  As your principal, it is incredibly important to me that you have access to information about our school and the many wonderful events that we will have throughout the year.  I have found that newsletters are often lost in email shuffles or even blocked by servers when attachments are too large.  In addition to this, parents often have to search for emails that had the information that they needed (to no avail) or newsletters become repetitive week after week in an attempt to give you timely information.  Four years ago I started blogging to keep our families in touch with school happenings.  On this blog, you will find information about a variety of things, including:

  • student achievements
  • academic programs
  • extracurricular clubs and sports
  • Parent Club activities
  • after school offerings
  • community service
  • our Lake Oswego Schools Foundation
  • safety and security information
  • upcoming evening and daytime events
  • reminders about student needs and school reports
  • tips for conferences and parent meetings
  • community events in Lake Oswego
  • district events and news
  • pretty much anything you would find in a newsletter

As you explore the Sailor Pride blog, you will see a place at the bottom of the page to search the archives for previous posts.  This blog will be closed for public comment, but you can always direct questions or comments that arise to myself or the contact listed within the post.  I welcome submissions from students and hope to have some student bloggers join me in the coming year!

As a weekly reminder, you will receive a Friday email with a list of upcoming dates and a link to the blog.  The link will also always reside in my signature line and will be linked to our school homepage.  Thank you for being amazing partners, and I look forward to all the events this year has to bring!
