Science Fair Mentors Needed!

Howdy Science Fair Mentors,

It is THAT time of year again and we are wondering if you would be willing to volunteer and help with our science fair!!  We are a about 3 weeks away.  This year we are hosting Science Fair within the school day (Wednesday February 7th & Thursday February 8th) during each student’s Block Period.  We welcome you to come during those days (we will let you know which students have what Block Period) but our Mentor Session will take place on Friday February 9th 3:25pm-4:30pm.
We will send a second email next week with a list of students and hyperlinks to their projects.  So far we have 48 projects and 2 mentors and we would LOVE to have 10-15 more….most projects are Scientific Inquiry with a few Engineering and Design.
Here are some resources to get started:
Example of a scientific lab write-up to give you an idea of what we are asking at the middle level.
This document is what mentors have used in the past to provide feedback to students.

General Schedule for Friday February 9th:
2:30 – 3:20:   Arrive at Lake Oswego Junior High and proceed to the library (follow the signs).  Mentors will meet with students in the library.  This time can be used to look at science fair boards, finish student feedback forms, ask questions, etc.
3:25 – 3:50:   Meet with students, listen to presentations, provide feedback.
3:50 – 4:30:  Check out other science fair projects other mentors reviewed–provide us with feedback on which you feel should be selected to be advanced to the Intel Regional Science Fair
4:30 – 4:45:  Teachers begin cleaning up science fair
Thanks again for your efforts to support science and our youth, we sincerely appreciate it!!!!  Please let us know if you have any questions at all.
