On Saturday, Jan. 27, six intrepid LOJ students went to Eugene to compete in the Miles Stillwater Speech and Debate Tournament. Our students did very well as they competed against five other middle schools across Oregon. Here are the results:
SPAR (a one-on-one spontaneous debate event)
Leila Hardy – Second place
Claire Rudinsky -tied with all other LOJ competitors for 4th place
David Morgan -tied with all other LOJ competitors for 4th place
Alex Aghdaei -tied with all other LOJ competitors for 4th place
Zara Sidhu -tied with all other LOJ competitors for 4th place
TALL TALES (a competitor makes up a tall tale that incorporates three given words)

SALES (a competitor is given an object and creates a sales pitch for it)
Lelia Hardy – First place
Lincoln Buckner – tied for 3rd
Zara Sidhu -tied for 3rd overall
